On November 22, 1930, Jered Barclay was born. When he was just three years old, he made his stage debut in a Vaudeville production alongside Judy Garland, Shirley Temple, and Sammy David Jr. At the age of six, he was introduced to the world of radio, and at the age of twelve, he joined the Clyde Beatty Circus.
In the drama film The Man with the Golden Arm from 1955, Barclay made his acting debut in the mid-1950s and played Frank Sinatra’s cellmate. The Otto Preminger-directed movie, which will be added to the National Film Registry in 2020, received three Academy Award nominations.
